The Business Studies course is designed to give the pupils an opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the features and dynamics of business activity from a wide range of perspectives for example, the consumer, the shareholder, the employee and the manager. Business Studies provides an excellent basis to facilitate the further study of Business Studies at an advanced level. It is a policy of the Business Studies Department that pupils should become involved in activities through which they may experience, as far as possible, the decision-making process which is faced by those involved in business. Pupils, therefore have an opportunity to be involved in CASE STUDIES and INVESTIGATIONS as a form of teaching strategy.
Presently, Year 11 business studies pupils have set up a mini enterprise company. The company are currently manufacturing clocks and sales have been ticking along nicely. The name of the company is Time Flies and clocks are still available at a very competitive price of £5.50. This mini enterprise idea has proved to be an excellent teaching strategy as pupils can put theory into practice
